The Lutheran World Federation, in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, established operations in Jordan in 2012. The Lutheran World Federation is assisting refugees and vulnerable groups in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Mafraq and Za’atari camp.


Job Description

Scope of Work :

  ;

The Psychosocial Counselor will be responsible for case management and for conducting long -term counseling for the most vulnerable participants in LWF &rsquo ;s Irbid programming . S /he oversees proper implementation of the assigned component of the program . S /he is responsible for assisting the project manager in project planning and reporting . S /he establishes and maintains positive relationships with beneficiary communities .

R esponsibilities :

  ;

Case Management :

  • Conducting psychosocial assessments for children , women , and other vulnerable family members to identify the psychosocial needs and services .
  • Developing an intervention plan according to the needs of each case in order to achieve the goals of the offered service .
  • Identifying and building potential referral mechanisms for cases , referring cases as needed to partner organizations .
  • Participating in working groups related to referrals and child protection .

Counseling

  • Providing individual or group counselling for cases according to the intervention plan .
  • Conducting home visits as needed , according to workplace procedures .
  • Reviewing and assessing the intervention plan and making modifications as needed .
  • Ensuring that gender and child protection are streamlined into all stages of intervention .

Planning , Monitoring and Reporting :

  • Contributing to the development of procedures and tools to measure and report data .
  • Documenting all work procedures and database of cases , and reporting to project manager .
  • Together with the project manager , properly documenting the achievements and lessons of the project activities and disseminating information to partners .

Requirements :

Essential :

  • BA / B Sc Degree in Psychology , counseling , social work or related field .
  • 2-3 years of experience providing psychological services to children and families in the context of trauma , abuse or difficult circumstances , preferably in the NGO / INGO sector .
  • Committed to team -building .
  • Self -directed and able to take initiative .
  • Able to work in a fast -paced environment and comfortable with rapid change .
  • Flexibility and willingness to cover other tasks related to the position as needed .
  • Commitment to LWF policies on promoting gender equality and diversity in the interests of marginalized people .

Skills :

  • Strong English language skills (written and spoken ).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills .
  • Computer skills , in particular email , Microsoft Word and Excel
